Foundation Celebrates Four GPA Membership Scholarship Winners
The Grant Professionals Foundation is delighted to announce its spring 2014 GPA Membership Scholarship winners.
1. New Membership – Cynthia Hobson (Ft. Washington, MD)
2. New Memberships – Avril Amanda McFarlane (Myerstown, PA)
3. Chapter Leader Membership – Leslie Testa (Littleton, CO)
4. Renewal Membership – Jenny Potter (Kansas City, MO)
These scholarships support new and experienced grant professionals. Cynthia Hobson believes the benefits of GPA membership are that “it ensures and maintains industry integrity, provides grant writing professionals with resources that keep them at the top of their field.” Avril Amanda McFarlane hopes to engage with other grant writers so she can build capacity and bring new resources to her community. Leslie Testa, an experienced grant writer, seeks to start her own consulting firm and recognizes the business networking opportunities the GPA offers. Jenny Potter concurs. “From just one year of membership in GPA, I have learned more than I possibly imagined. I had no idea of the magnitude of resources available, the willingness of the GPA community to help each other and the professional development opportunities provided by conferences, webinars and newsletters. As a first‐year professional grant writer, I am whole heartedly committed to GPA!”
All Membership Scholarship winners receive a one‐year GPA national membership valued at $239 and a one‐year local GPA Chapter Membership ranging from $25 to $75 in value. Join us in congratulating the most recent scholarship winners! (Don’t worry – there’s another scholarship opportunity this year! The next deadline is September 30. The Open Membership Scholarship Program is the main way the Grant Professionals Foundation supports chapter capacity building and leadership development. The Foundation awarded its first membership scholarships in 2013 but has awarded other scholarships to scores of professionals since 2007. The generous donations of GPA members and other donors through campaigns like the Every Chapter Challenge are the Foundation’s sole means of supporting scholarships. Your gifts make each of us a better grant professional, and better grant professionals mean more funding to our local communities. Thank you for making a difference in so many lives!
